This course explores one profound idea: that love is the foundation of everything we seek—happiness, success, meaning, and fulfillment. Whether our goals are personal or professional, emotional or material, love is the key that unlocks them. Through philosophy, psychological research, and real-world stories from Mason Scurry’s work as a love researcher, we’ll examine how love functions not only as a feeling, but also as a way of living and leading—a mindset that shapes how we see ourselves, others, and the world. Students will explore how living in and with love can transform relationships, expand creativity, build wealth, and deepen inner peace. This is not a sentimental study, but a rigorous inquiry into the most powerful force in human life—and how understanding it can change everything.

How do people arrive at their beliefs, and how can individuals, groups, and whole societies change their beliefs rapidly? This discussion-based course uses the 2022 book of the same name by David McRaney. Together we will explore how beliefs and opinions develop, how we can influence others, and how we can change our own minds. At a time when society seems more divided than ever, it is reassuring to know that there are ways we can still find areas of agreement and commonality. Please read the introduction and first two chapters of the book for the first class.
