EDU 491 K-12 School Safety and Educator Wellness

Safety is a major concern for today's schools. This course is designed primarily for school leaders and educators, both in current practice and in training. It is intended to heighten school personnel’s awareness of the factors revolving around keeping children safe at school. It is helpful to think about school safety encompassing both physical (school grounds, student risk behaviors and assessing threats, etc.) as well as emotional well-being (self-regulation, perception of safety, etc.). Topics covered in this course revolve around aspects of both physical safety and emotional well-being, offering opportunities to learn from experts in the state and increase knowledge and skills in areas related to school safety.

This online course is fully asynchronous. Course is Traditional Letter Grading only. Course is available for Undergraduate or Graduate credit below, or for 45 OPI Professional Development Units.

Course offered by University of Montana - Montana Safe Schools Center.
