This course has been created for students who have the BLS for Healthcare Provider certification and need only the Bloodborne Pathogens certification.

All students attending an Allied Health program in the Division of Workforce Training are required to receive the BLS for Healthcare Provider and AHA Bloodborne Pathogens for Healthcare Provider certifications.

• AHA BLS-for Healthcare Providers certification course teaches basic life support skills for application in both in-facility and pre-hospital settings, with a focus on high-quality CPR, improvement of chest compression fraction, and high-performing team dynamics.
• AHA Bloodborne Pathogens certification course teaches students how to protect themselves and others from being exposed to blood or blood - containing materials.

The Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED program is an in-person training located at WSCC campuses.  A class is approximately 3.5 hours and all materials, including student workbook and certification ecard is included.  Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED teaches participants to provide first aid, perform CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively. Based on the latest American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).  Who should take this course?  Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED trains anyone with little or no medical training to provide first aid, CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely, and effective manner.  Some examples include teachers, parents, family caregivers, childcare workers, and others.  

Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED teaches the lifesaving skills of first aid, CPR and AED including:

First aid basics
Medical emergencies
Injury emergencies
Environmental emergencies
Preventing illness and injury
Adult CPR and AED use
Choking help for an Adult, Child or Infant
Drowning response and prevention
Opioid-associated life-threatening emergencies
Optional modules in Child CPR AED and Infant CPR
