Emergency Licensure Support   

To support successful completion of MTEL exams, the following MTEL Prep courses are available each month.  This section is for those working with the Western Mass Regional Center. Enrollment will be verified before the course begins.
 
  • MTEL ECED subtest (72) Prep Course
  • Course Fee: $0.00
    Dates: 4/1/2025 - 4/30/2025

    This 15 hour self-paced online course is intended to prepare you for successful completion of the  MTEL ECED (Early Childhood Education) subtest (72). Each module is designed to have you learn the terms, instructional practices and strategies, and test taking strategies needed for success on these exams through linked sources, presentations, learning assessments, and practice tests.

    Last day to register is March 27th.

 

  • MTEL English subtest (61) Preparation
  • Course Fee: $0.00

    This self-paced online course is designed to help teacher candidates and other Massachusetts public school employees prepare for the English Subject MTEL Exam. The course guides participants through the process of registering for the exam, introduces strategies for answering multiple-choice questions efficiently under time constraints and planning and writing the essay on the exam, gives students an overview of the grammar and style questions as well as the literary movements and time periods that are covered by the exam, and familiarizes test-takers for the kinds of questions they will encounter on the exam. The course consists of four modules, each of which ends with a multiple-choice learning assessment. Each module contains videos created by WSU English professor Wyatt Hermansen, who reviews exam questions and introduces strategies for taking the test.

    This self-paced online course is designed to help teacher candidates and other Massachusetts public school employees prepare for the Reading Subtest of the MTEL Communication & Literacy Exam. The course guides participants through the process of registering for the exam, introduces strategies for reading efficiently under time constraints and approaching multiple-choice questions, and familiarizes test-takers for the kinds of questions they will encounter on the exam. The course consists of four modules, each of which ends with a multiple-choice learning assessment. Each module contains videos created by WSU English professor Wyatt Hermansen, who reviews exam questions and introduces strategies for taking the test.

    This self-paced online course is designed to help teacher candidates and other Massachusetts public school employees prepare for taking the MTEL Communication & Literacy Exam as well as the various subject tests. This course is intended to give a general overview of test-staking strategies and preparation methods that will benefit students taking a variety of standardized tests. The course guides participants through the process of registering for the exam, introduces strategies for answering multiple-choice questions efficiently under time constraints and planning and writing essays on the exam, and familiarizes test-takers for the kinds of questions they will encounter on the exam. The course consists of four modules, each of which ends with a multiple-choice learning assessment. Each module contains videos created by WSU English professor Wyatt Hermansen, who reviews exam questions and introduces strategies for taking the test. This course also includes links to resources like a study calendar to help test-takers prepare.
