Explore your talents with acrylic paint. In each class, students will transform a blank canvas into a finished masterpiece. With step-by-step instructions, you will be guided to create your one-of-a-kind work. Students will learn and use techniques such as blending, layering, splattering, and dry brushing to add texture and detail to their work. The subjects will be different from the previous session. All levels are welcome, and no experience is required.

Calligraphy can be a meditation as well as an art form if you slow down and enjoy the beautiful process stroke by stroke. Students will learn the fundamentals of calligraphy by working with three different calligraphy tools. First, we work with a broad edge marker and learn the Italic alphabet, a versatile 15th-century calligraphy style. Then, we'll use a pointed pen and ink and learn a copperplate alphabet, a beautiful, elegant 18th-century script style. Finally, we will learn modern calligraphy techniques and flourishes. Beginner students will progress from learning the basic letter forms to writing sentences. This class is for both beginners and more experienced students who want to fine-tune their skills.

This bracelet is fun and easy to make, alternating seed beads with two-hole superduo beads. The single wrap will use a coordinating clasp to enhance the look of your new bracelet. This class is good for beginners and experienced students alike.

Experience the wonderful world of air-dry clay with this beautiful hand-built project. You'll be led step by step in making a spring-themed envelope pocket. Perfect to display dry flowers, airplants, or as a secret compartment. This is a 2-week project: The first week, you’ll shape and mold the clay. The following week, you’ll bring your piece to life by decorating and finishing your dried clay using techniques such as painting, decoupage, and other creative surface treatments.

Acrylic pour painting is a fluid art process where acrylic paints are mixed with a pouring medium and then allowed to flow freely across a surface, creating organic swirls, marbling, and unexpected designs. In this class, students will be using the direct pour technique, in which they will pour the paint directly onto a canvas and then gently tilt and move it, guiding the paint as it flows. Each student will produce two canvases.

Crocheted flowers are fun and easy to make and can be used for all kinds of personal and household embellishments. They also make beautiful gifts. In this workshop, you will create a variety of floral designs and make a stunning floral wreath. Students who do not wish to purchase or make a wreath can use the flowers to embellish their own bags, clothing, hats, etc, on their own. This class is for students with basic crochet experience.

We will practice basic brush strokes and learn how different amounts of pressure and ink create a variety of lines and textures. Participants will then apply these techniques to paint a beautiful cherry blossom branch. We will focus on creating expressive branches and soft blossoms, and learning how to use ink and gentle color to capture the feeling of spring.

In honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States, weave this attractive flag basket that measures 12” by 2”. The basket in the photo is woven in space dyed reed; there will be patriotic space dyed reed and several other color options available. This hanging basket will be useful for holding small flag stakes, dried or fresh flowers or grasses, or even matches for your fireplace. It will weave up quickly and will be ready to use indoors or outside.

Explore the growing practice of embroidery on paper by transforming classic postcards into textured, dimensional pieces. In this class, students will work on heavy paper rather than traditional fabric, creating multiple designs in a range of themes and color palettes. You will learn how to properly pierce, stitch, and finish paper without tearing it, and how to adapt familiar embroidery techniques to a nontraditional surface. By the final session, you will have a collection of finished postcards and the skills to continue working confidently with embroidered paper.

This meditative art requires a bit of patience, letting go, and breathing. The art of sumi ink marbling gives a unique and fun effect without using water stabilizers or thickeners. (Sumi ink is a traditional Japanese, carbon-based black ink.) All you need is a slow, guided hand and the willingness to keep going. Finished marble art will be on rice paper, and once dry, it can be used in scrapbooks, as journal covers, and/or as wall art.

Learn how to make your own glycerin-based soap. Local soap artisan Jill Staffin will teach you how simple it is to make soap using a natural base. Students will learn about the different forms of soapmaking (melt and pour, cold process, and hot process) and then craft two bars of glycerin-based soap with their choice of color, scent, and embeds/exfoliants. No experience necessary.

This workshop explores the artistic potential of tissue paper and inks, with an emphasis on layering, translucency, and vibrant seasonal color. Using delicate papers and fluid pigments, you’ll develop an expressive abstract piece while experimenting with texture, movement, and intuitive composition.

Participants will try tearing, layering, blending, and mark-making techniques to build dynamic works bursting with bright, summery hues. In this welcoming class, LEAVES are the focus. Early spring is when we first see emerging leaves on Honeysuckle vines and wildflowers scattered across the landscape like White Trillium, Dutchman’s Breeches, Trout Lily, and Hepatica. Trees begin to show touches of pale red and tender green leaves on Dogwood, Magnolia, and Oak. Through observation and study, each leaf subject will be identified and beautifully sketched to transfer to fine paper. We will use simple drawing techniques using proven methods that can be mastered by students new to drawing and those with more experience. A beautiful selection of leaf subjects will be provided and rendered in four mediums: graphite, ink, watercolor, and highly detailed colored pencil. Join us for this deep and delightful dive into nature's renewal as it wakes up from a long Winter’s nap. All supplies will be provided in our colorful “ginnykits.”

Each two-page spread in our 5” x 8” journals will honor this beautiful time of year and become a treasured keepsake for the future. We welcome, as always, new artists as well as seasoned ones, and all materials are provided in our colorful packets with the exception of a 5” x 8” Horizontal Journal.
