Silversmithing   

Prerequisites: Beginner Silversmithing 1 & 2. Continued lessons in silversmithing are covered.  More stone setting lessons will be presented; this includes different setting techniques for facetted and cabochon stones, plus more advanced silversmithing techniques and tools will be taught.  Safety will be emphasized. Students choose their projects. Students can work in copper as well as silver. Tools and materials may be purchased from the instructor, if desired. Projects range from $20 to $100.

The basics of Silversmithing will be taught. Cutting, bending, soldering, polishing metal.  Creating textures, stamping, using class tools and equipment. Creating rings, pendants and bracelets. Safety will be emphasized. Students will be able to make several projects over the course of the quarter. Tools and materials may be purchased from the instructor, if desired. Projects range from $20 to $100. Students can work in copper as well as silver. Cabochon stone setting will be taught in Beginner 2 Winter Quarter.
