Certified Veterinary Assistant   

Do you have a love of animals? Are you a patient, caring person? Becoming a Veterinary Assistant is the perfect career path for you. Veterinary Assistant’s help make a difference in the lives of animals and the people that love them! As a Veterinary Assistant, you will work alongside Veterinarians to provide routine care, health evaluation, and treatment for sickness or injury. Assistants perform a wide variety of duties including feeding, exercising, and bathing animals, cleaning and disinfecting exam rooms, restraining animals during examinations, administering medication or vaccinations, and most importantly providing affection and a safe environment for every animal in their care. Being passionate about animals is the number one requirement for being a successful Veterinary Assistant however there are many other skills needed for success. Our complete training program, delivered through one of our partner schools, will prepare you for a rewarding career as a Veterinary Assistant in a variety of settings including veterinary hospitals, animal shelters, and zoos without any previous experience or knowledge. In this program, we will cover all the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully pursue a career as a Veterinary Assistant. This program begins by exploring veterinary terminology, office procedures, first aid for animals, farm animals and their health. Our program also includes veterinary terminology software that will allow you to review the information in a fun, interactive way and utilize the audio glossary for correct pronunciations of the terms. The program then covers many necessary topics for any office environment such as hazardous material, safe lifting practices, and infection prevention. Finally, this program will provide training in the communication skills that make an effective professional including both verbal and non-verbal forms of communication. Upon successful completion of our program, you will be prepared to sit for the NCCB national certification exam to become a Certified Animal Care Worker (CACW).
