Eighth-century Chinese poet Tu Fu and 20th-century American poet Ted Kooser both wrote poems reflecting their solitary walks. In this class we will read selections from Kooser's Winter Morning Walk and from several volumes by Tu Fu, in which physical effort and immersion in nature gave rise to thoughts about the poets' struggles and pleasures of the moment. Facilitator Leonore Gerstein will screen-share texts from Winter Morning Walks and David Hinton’s translation of The Selected Poems of Tu Fu.
