The Love, Lure, and Lore of the Laundry Line

IN-PERSON: The Elderwise classroom at the Vineyard Church

The laundry line? What's there to talk about? Anne will take you on a nostalgic trip back in time to the days when everyone hung their wash on the line to dry – when they went online without the internet! There will be memories to share, links between the clothesline and social/cultural issues, history, feminism, psychology, sociology, and ecology. You will hear why "solar drying" – that wonderful free sun – is once again the way to go in today's eco-conscious world. There will be personal stories, delightful slides to see, along with a peek at Anne's vast collection of laundry memorabilia. We may end up with a laundry list of things to think about, but she won't leave us hanging while airing her thoughts. She will pin things down for us, and try to remove any hang-ups we may have about using the clothesline. So, come join us and let's hang out together! Clothesline Historian and Hobbyist, Anne Lawrence is an alumna of Tufts University in psychology and education. She enjoyed a 20-year career in university administration at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA. Since retiring and relocating to Ann Arbor 13 years ago, she has been happily sharing her hobby with people all over the area.
