American Politics Panel: The Never-Ending Election...?
As we gather together for this session we will be a little over a year away from the 2024 general elections, and will be fast approaching the primary elections. The unknowns are innumerable – where will inflation and the overall state of the economy be? Whither the war in Ukraine? Will Joe Biden's popularity rise (or fall)? Will Trump be the GOP frontrunner, a criminal defendant in multiple jurisdictions, or both? Will there be deadlocks or breakthroughs in Congress? The Three Amigos probably should not try to predict the future, but they will be there to explain what is happening, interpret ongoing developments, and add their insight and levity into what almost certainly will be unprecedented times. Please join us for this always-interesting discussion. Jeffrey Bernstein studies and teaches political science and American politics at Eastern Michigan University (EMU). Michael Homel is Professor Emeritus of history at EMU in the fields of 20th century American history and American urban history. Larry Kestenbaum is the Washtenaw County Clerk/Register of Deeds.
