The hilarious prequel to Jeff Daniels' Escanaba in da Moonlight is set in the Soady deer camp during World War II and outfitted with a whole new cast of wacky Yoopers. Eighteen-year-old Albert Soady, Jr. is celebrating his final hunting season before he becomes a sharpshooter for the U.S. Army, when he falls head-over-heels for the legendary Big Betty Balou. The question is, does she have what it takes to become part of Escanaba’s legendary Soady family? Junior's father Albert Soady, Sr., his great-grandfather, Alphonse Soady, and wayward man of the sea Salty Jim Negamanee may have a thing or two to say about that. Karrie Waarala holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Southern Maine, for which she wrote, produced, and performed her one-woman show, LONG GONE: A Poetry Sideshow, which debuted in Ypsilanti, MI, in 2011. She has directed, served as technical director, and appeared onstage for a number of PTD productions, and currently serves as PTD Productions Treasurer.
