Everyone Has a Story: Doing YOUR Oral History

IN-PERSON: The Elderwise classroom at the Vineyard Church

Learn how to preserve and share the stories of your family, community, or culture. In this class Jim Cameron will teach us how to plan a project, conduct interviews, and handle sensitive topics. Oral history is a powerful way to document and share the experiences and perspectives of people who might otherwise be forgotten. Join us and start your own oral history journey. Jim Cameron received his B.A. from Kalamazoo College, and M.A. from Eastern Michigan University. He taught at Saline High School for 37 years, and spent eight years as a Social Studies Consultant with the Michigan Department of Education. He has been the President of the Michigan Oral History Association for eight years. Jim is the author of Voices over the Valley, an Oral History of Saline Valley Farms, and Tales Come Alive! An Oral History of the Bixby Marionettes. He is currently working on an oral history of the J.W. Westcott Company.
