Jazz and Musical Theatre Choreographers

IN-PERSON: The Elderwise classroom at the Vineyard Church

An Overview of Jazz and Musical Theatre Choreographers: From the Turn of the Century to Present Day
Join us as Phil Simmons takes a look at choreographers we already know from Broadway's Golden Age, and also at those who came before them, those who came after, and those who are up-and-coming today. Phil will also introduce some new choreographers whose work is more pure jazz than musical theatre, but still features telling stories about characters through a narrative thread in their choreography. Phil Simmons is the Director and a professor of Musical Theater at Eastern Michigan University, and a card-carrying member of the Actors Equity Association. He has lectured and taught master classes in dance across the United States. Phil’s passion is teaching the next generation of actors, singers, and dancers to be happy, thriving, career-long performers.
