Offshore Wind Power in the Great Lakes

ONLINE: A Zoom invitation link will be sent one day before class begins.

Offshore wind power is being developed all over the world including our own East Coast. What is happening in the Great Lakes and what can we expect to happen? Some experts predict that offshore wind power will be a major source of power for Great Lakes states in the future. What are the economic and environmental issues? What are the prospects and what are the issues when we develop this huge potential energy resource off our shores? Join us as John Sarver discusses the status of wind power in the world, the U.S., and the Great Lakes. John Sarver is a Board Member and former Executive Director of the Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association. He was the Chair of the Michigan Wind Working Group and was a program director in the Michigan Energy Office for 35 years where he managed various energy efficiency programs and efforts to promote solar and wind energy. John has served on the board of directors of the Great Lakes Wind Collaborative, National Association of State Energy Officials, Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance, National Council on Electricity Policy, and Michigan Interfaith Power and Light. He has a master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Michigan.
