Pilates: Stand Up to Aging   

ONLINE: A Zoom invitation link will be sent one day before class begins.

Props needed: a stable object (chair/table) or making sure someone else is at home to assist if needed, a floor mat, lap blanket (not too thick or too thin), and a resistance band.

As we age, getting up and down from the floor, or even from a chair, can become difficult. Yet, getting down on the floor and rising from it are basic functional tasks required for autonomy. As we age, our balance, mobility, strength, and even our agility become challenged by everyday routines, movements, and chores. In this class we will learn to improve this basic functional movement to better our daily living, by learning exercises which add a variety of motions to help us get stronger, become more mobile, and help avoid injuries. This class is recommended for those who are comfortable trying these up and down floor exercises. The exercises are also great for those with spine/hip osteopenia/osteoporosis. Gwyn Jones has offered personal training sessions, workshops, and classes on Pilates for more than ten years. She is certified in STOTT Pilates and TRX suspension, and annually enrolls in continuing Pilates Education.
