IN-PERSON: The Elderwise classroom at the Vineyard Church
Which women are in prison? Why are they there? How are women in prison different from men in prison? Are they treated differently? What happens to their children? What challenges do women returning from prison face? Join Kathie and Carolyn as they discuss these important issues and statistics. A formerly-incarcerated woman will join the class to talk about her experience. Kathie Gourlay and Carolyn Madden have taught several courses for Elderwise on the subject of criminal justice. As prison volunteers, they each have experience with incarcerated women, and with helping formerly-incarcerated women who return to free society. They are also active in Friends of Restorative Justice and other criminal justice reform organizations.
