A Fall Wildflower Walk

OFFSITE TOUR: Dexter-Huron Metropark, 6535 Huron River Drive
Enrollment: This tour is limited to 15 attendees. A waitlist will be available.

Note: Vehicles without a Metropark seasonal pass will be charged a $10 park entry fee.

Enjoy the natural areas of Dexter-Huron Metropark with botanist Beverly Walters. High quality open woodlands along the Huron River will be seen on our way to exploring wildflowers in the prairie areas. Brilliant yellow sunflowers and goldenrods will be blooming along with lavender blazing stars and white and purple asters, all nestled in among the tall prairie grasses. The B2B trail we will follow is paved, but we will also venture onto narrow footpaths for part of the walk, so sturdy footwear is advised.
Beverly Walters has experience both as a field botanist and a Museum Collections Manager at the University of Michigan Herbarium. Now retired, she helps maintain and improve the Herbarium's Michigan Flora Online website (https://michiganflora.net), a popular resource for plant identification. Bev pursued her botanical studies at Michigan State University.
Driving directions and parking instructions will be emailed to class registrants a few days before the tour.
