This new exhibit, Women Answer the Call, at the Michigan Flight Museum (formerly the Yankee Air Museum), provides an interactive experience, showcasing the millions of women who left their homes to enter the workforce during World War II. Willow Run Airport was home to the famed Ford Willow Run Bomber plant, which transformed and simplified production of the B-24 Bomber to an assembly-line format. Claire Kitchin Dahl will lead the tour of the Rosie Exhibit, and another docent will finish the tour of the museum. During the tour, Claire will teach attendees how to rivet! This tour is in partnership with the class: HI12 Rosie the Riveter – “We Can Do It!” at the Elderwise classroom on Tuesday, Sept. 17.Claire Kitchin Dahl began her teaching career in 1971 and retired from Ann Arbor’s Pioneer High School in 2009. Armed with a master’s degree in women's studies, she has always championed the strong women in American history. Claire volunteers as a Tribute Rosie at the Michigan Flight Museum.
Driving directions and parking instructions will be emailed to class registrants a few days before the tour.
