This class is designed for beginners with little to no experience with clay. Handbuilding is a pottery-making method that involves creating forms without a pottery wheel, using the hands, fingers, and simple tools. During the first three weeks, techniques such as pinch, coil building, and slab building will be taught. Other surface embellishment techniques will also be explored. The final classes will cover glazing and other methods to add color to your projects. All materials and firings are included. This class is one of two mandatory prerequisites for Open Studio.

Have you always wanted to learn to throw on a pottery wheel? Here is your chance! This introductory class is designed for beginners with little to no experience with clay. The class takes place over 3 consecutive Friday mornings. The first Friday we will learn the basics of wheel throwing, creating bowls and cylinders. The second Friday we will learn to trim our pieces, create and attach handles to turn our cylinders into mugs, and experiment with different decorative techniques. The third Friday we will glaze our pieces and learn about cone 10 firing in the kiln. All materials and firings are included. This class is one of two mandatory prerequisites for Open Studio.

Join us for a two session workshop to learn the basics of sculpting clay. During the first session, participants will learn clay sculpting basics and begin their projects. Students are encouraged to bring project ideas, or sculpt a suggested project (snails and mushrooms for the garden). During the second session, participants will continue their sculptures. Each participant can expect to take home 2-4 small sculptures. This is a beginner friendly course and no experience is necessary.
This course includes optional glazing class on Friday, October 16 from 3:00pm - 5:00pm.
This workshop counts towards the Handbuilding prerequisite for Open Studio. Two workshops and a glaze class add-on fulfill all Handbuilding requirements.

 Join us for a two session workshop to create a garden gnome. During the first session, participants will learn clay hand building basics while creating a unique garden gnome. During the second session, participants will learn to glaze their creations. Each participants can expect to take home one garden gnome, no larger than 16 inches tall. This is a beginner-friendly course and no experience is necessary.
This workshop counts towards the Handbuilding prerequisite for Open Studio. Two workshops and a glaze class add-on fulfill all Handbuilding requirements.

Partners will be instructed in the basics of throwing clay on the potters' wheel, making unique cylinders and bowls, and choose 2 pieces each to glaze and fire that you get to keep. Come prepared to get messy and have a great time! Partners share a wheel. Cost is $75 per person or $150 for a pair, each person must register.

Unlike our Date Night class that is designed for partners and groups, you do not have to share a wheel for this class, you get your own for the session!
