This add on option to Open Studio is a weekend opportunity to participate and fire your pieces in a soda firing at the renown Tuscarora Pottery School in Tuscarora, NV. Students will learn about soda firing and specialty glazes for the soda kiln in the GBC studio. Then we will take our glazed pieces and head out to Tuscarora to load the soda kiln on Saturday and fire the kiln on Sunday. A stay at the historic hotel in Tuscarora is included. The following week we will head back to Tuscarora to unload the kiln after it has cooled and discuss our firing results.

Students must currently be enrolled in Spring 2024 Ceramics: Open Studio. Additionally, students will need to arrange their own transportation, as well as complete a GBC waiver and a travel form in order to participate.
