Have you always wanted to learn to throw on a pottery wheel? Here is your chance! This introductory class is designed for beginners with little to no experience with clay. The class takes place over 3 consecutive Friday afternoons. The first Friday we will learn the basics of wheel throwing, creating bowls and cylinders. The second Friday we will learn to trim our pieces, create and attach handles to turn our cylinders into mugs, and experiment with different decorative techniques. The third Friday we will glaze our pieces and learn about cone 10 firing in the kiln. All materials and firings are included.

This three week wheel throwing course is geared toward teenagers ages 12-18 years old. All experience levels are welcome. Students will learn the basics of throwing clay on the wheel creating cylinders and bowls in the first week. In week two we will learn to trim feet, add handles, and a variety of decorative techniques. The final week we will learn glazing techniques and about firing in the kiln. All materials and firings are included.

Join us in collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service to make ceramic ornaments for the 2025 U.S. Capital Christmas Tree! Ornaments will represent something uniquely Nevada and be displayed on Christmas trees around the Capital in Washington D.C. All materials included and two ornaments per person can be kept for your own holiday decoration.
