This introductory clay class for kids ages 5 to 8 years old offers instruction in clay construction over three consecutive Saturday’s. Skills to be taught include hand-building, slab-building, coil, pinch, modeling, and a variety of decorative and glazing techniques. All materials and firings are included. **Wheel throwing will not be taught in this class.

June Session
Elko In-Person Class

International Juggling Association gold and silver medalist Josiah Jones (a.k.a. The Jackal of Juggling) will teach a workshop focused on three-ball juggling basics for beginners, with bonus tips for intermediate jugglers who want to level up. Each student gets their own set of three juggling balls to keep, so the fun doesn’t stop when the workshop ends!

Ages 12 and up

This volleyball clinic is designed for beginners to gain a solid foundation of basic volleyball play and for intermediate players looking to sharpen their techniques. Classes will cover skills such as: serving, receiving, setting, hitting, defense, and team formations.

Students should be prepared for active play and be dressed accordingly: gym appropriate shoes and clothing, long hair pulled back, no long/artificial nails, and no jewelry. Please bring a refillable water bottle and knee pads; arm sleeves are optional.

Elko in-person class for ages 12-16. (No class on June 19 or July 3.)

GBC is pleased to partner with Communities In Schools of Northeastern Nevada to offer this FREE camp. Chess Camp offers a fun, supportive, and skill building experience for students who want to learn, play, and grow through the game of chess. The camp introduces students to core strategies, problem-solving skills, and the fundamentals of sportsmanship. Participants will enjoy hands-on lessons, friendly matches, puzzles, tournaments, and teamwork activities that strengthen critical thinking and confidence. Whether students are brand-new beginners or already experienced players, our camp provides opportunities to improve their game while having fun and building friendships. Join us for an exciting week of learning, creativity, and unforgettable chess moments! Registration is required and space is limited.

Ages 10-14 • Elko in-person

Bring your fabric fantasy visions to life and create costumes inspired by anything from Renaissance Faire elegance to bold cosplay characters. With guided instruction, choose your projects: full dress, corset belt, tunic, hooded cape, or tabard. Participants provide their own fabric; a materials list with required yardage will be shared in advance. Bring a personal sewing machine, or contact the instructor to use one of ours. Basic sewing skills welcome—come craft and learn!

Elko in-person camp for ages 14 and up. (Ages 8-13 may enroll with an enrolled parent or guardian over 18.)

This three week wheel throwing course is geared toward teenagers ages 12-18 years old. All experience levels are welcome. Students will learn the basics of throwing clay on the wheel creating cyclinders and bowls in the first week. In week two we will learn to trim feet, add handles, and a variety of decorative techniques. The final week we will learn glazing techniques and about firing in the kiln. All materials and firings are included.

Elko in-person class

Students will create a one-of-a-kind art journal using cereal boxes, ephemera, fabric, paper scraps, and other collected materials. After assembling the journal, students will decorate the covers and pages with paint, collage, and mixed-media techniques. This hands-on workshop encourages creativity and the imaginative reuse of everyday objects to create a personalized keepsake journal.

Ages 16 and older.

Day 1: Code & Chronicles Master the logic of Scratch and Code.org to build a playable game. Then, transform your characters into an interactive digital graphic novel, blending narrative art with custom code.

Day 2: 3D Worlds & Screenplays Unleash your creativity with 3D design and printing to bring physical artifacts to life. While the printers hum, pivot to the "writer’s room" to draft an original cinematic screenplay focusing on pacing and plot. Day 3: AI & Film Production Step behind the camera to film your scenes! Use Google Vids and AI tools to edit your footage, add machine-learning effects, and compose an AI-generated soundtrack for a world-premiere screening.

Elko in-person class for 9-13 year olds.

In this three day camp, students will learn the basics of rock climbing. This will include learning how to tie in to the rope, how to check your belayer for safety, and basic movement fundamentals. Students will climb each day, working to better their general fitness and gain comfort with heights.

Class is for students ranging from 9th-12th grades.
