Join our Sewing Craft Series and create fun, functional projects including a tote bag, fabric wallet, scrunchies, zipper pouch, infinity scarf, and a special surprise project! Fabric is included in the cost of the class, you are also welcome to bring your own (cotton and polycotton work best). Bring your own sewing machine, or use one of ours (limited machines available). Perfect for beginners and those looking to build their sewing skills.

Elko in-person class for ages 15 and older

Perfect for those who have never sewn before, or those who need to brush up! Learn all the ins and outs of how to set up a sewing machine and how it works. This class also covers sewing foundations: how to measure, mark, pin, and cut fabric to make your very own over the shoulder bag. The instructor will be available for 30 minutes prior to each class to assist students who may have missed a previous class, or to help pick out your fabric. Bring your own sewing machine or make arrangements to use one of our sewing machines (limited supply).

Elko in-person class for ages 7 to 14 years old

Learn the techniques used by Bob Ross to do paintings. This is done using wet on wet oil, with the use of various brushes, brush strokes, and painting knife to create a beautiful painting like Bob Ross. A complete painting will be done and taken home after each class. All supplies needed to complete your painting are included. Frames will be available for an additional charge. Please bring snacks and water for the day.

18X24 MOUNTAIN LAKE

Elko In-Person Class

This is a continuation of the Beginning Watercolor using advanced techniques. A list of needed supplies will be emailed to enrolled students.

Elko in-person class for ages 18 and up.

The boxes will be constructed from copper using pancake dies. The metal can then be embellished by using either cold connections or by soldering cabochons prior to bending to shape. Students can choose from triangular or hexagonal box shapes.

Join us for a two session workshop to create a garden gnome. During the first session, participants will learn clay hand building basics while creating a unique garden gnome. During the second session, participants will learn to glaze their creations. Each participants can expect to take home one garden gnome, no larger than 16 inches tall. This is a beginner-friendly course and no experience is necessary.

This workshop counts towards the Handbuilding prerequisite for Open Studio. Two workshops and a glaze class add-on fulfill all Handbuilding requirements.

16X20 MOUNTAIN LAKE AND WATERFALL

Elko In-Person Class

In this course students will learn the skills necessary to create hand-painted textures that are convincing, readable, and polished. Focus is placed on exploring and translating real life textures into stylized ones with the use of digital painting software. The goal of the course is to learn how to capture the essence of a material and effectively use it to enhance the geometry of a 3D mesh. Students will learn how to use color, how to create the illusion of light and shadow, and how to capture the intricacies of what makes a material unique.

 

Online video lectures will be available Monday, October 5 prior to class start.

Hardware Required: Drawing Tablet, Personal Computer for home work

A beginning course for acrylic painters. Students will learn the basic principles and tools for the medium. Each lesson focuses on different aspects of capturing form and light. A list of needed supplies will be emailed to enrolled students.

18X24 MOUNTAIN WITH A CABIN HIDEAWAY

Elko In-Person Class

In this course students will learn the basic fundamentals and techniques of 3D modeling, UV unwrapping, and texture painting using industry standard software. Students will be introduced to the 3D pipeline and workflow with a focus on translating real world objects into 3D models, optimizing the use of geometry, creating efficient UVs, and how to apply simple textures. This course is designed for complete beginners to 3D modeling and will cover a full overview of the program 3DS Max and the most commonly used tools and techniques. The goal of this course is to familiarize students with 3D modeling software and how to approach creating 3D models.

Elko In-Person Class

In this course students will follow the standard 3D pipeline and will create an original, low poly, game ready asset from concept to portfolio. This course is designed for students with an intermediate skill level in 3D modeling and digital painting; foundational knowledge of 3DS Max and Adobe Photoshop is necessary. This course will cover concepting, color theory, 3D modeling, UV unwrapping, hand-painting textures, lighting, and presentation.

 

Online video lectures will be available Monday, January 4 prior to class start.

Software required: 3DS Max, 3DCoat, Adobe Photoshop, Blender, and Marmoset.

Hardware required: Drawing Tablet, Personal Computer for work at home.
