This course meets the Washington State DSHS requirement for Adult Family Home providers. All of our instructors are either current/past board members of the Adult Family Home Council of Washington State. The class is strongly suggested for Resident Managers but is not required. For more information regarding all training requirements, please visit the DSHS website.
Students must register using their legal first/last name to receive a DSHS Certificate of Completion after successfully completing the course.
Students must provide a valid photo ID card on the first day of class.
Students must have a minimum of 48 hours in-class time to receive the AFH Administrator Training Certificate.
A Desktop/Laptop/Tablet is required for online learning. Cellphones are not allowed.
- Classes are online due to COVID-19. They are held using Zoom & Canvas. Canvas is Highline College's student learning platform. Students will be required before the 1st day of class to set up their Highline Canvas account. Directions to set up your Canvas account will be emailed 5-7 days before class begins. The activation letter will be sent to the email address you included in your registration.
- Textbook: A pdf copy of the textbook will be emailed to all students. If you would like a hard copy, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to request a textbook. Usually takes 7-10 business days for the textbook to be mailed out.
