Adult Family Home (AFH) Administrator Training – DSHS Approved
This 54-hour course meets the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) training requirement for Adult Family Home (AFH) providers. Instruction is led by professionals with experience on the Adult Family Home Council of Washington State. The course is recommended for Resident Managers but not mandatory. Successful completion results in a DSHS Certificate of Completion.

Course Details
- Registration: Students must register using their legal first and last name.
- ID Requirement: Valid photo identification is required on the first day of class.
- Attendance: Full attendance (all 54 hours) is required to earn the certificate.
Course Format
- Delivery: Online via Zoom and Canvas (Highline College’s learning platform).
- Technology: A desktop or laptop is required. Tablets and phones are not supported.
- Canvas Setup: Students will be required before the 1st day of class to set up their Highline Canvas account. Instructions for accessing Canvas will be sent 7–10 days before the course begins. The activation letter will be sent to the email address you included in your registration.

Textbook: A PDF will be provided via email. Hard copies are available for pickup at the Continuing Education office (23609 Pacific Hwy S, Suite #202, Des Moines, WA 98198).
