Highline College and the Academy of Cannabis Science have partnered together to offer industry-recognized courses for cannabis industry employees looking for professional development and CEU’s as well as lifelong learners wanting to know more about the uses & potential benefits of cannabis.
Pain is one of the most common health conditions for which people use cannabis. In the Cannabis, Pain, and the Opioid Epidemic course, we will discuss how some patients are using fewer opiates as a result of effective cannabis therapy. We will examine existing research that explores the relationship between cannabis and the opioid epidemic, and how patients alter their health and quality of life with cannabis.
Note: This is an instructor-led, open-enrollment course. Students can register at any time during the quarter.

This class is designed for working medical assistants to meet the educational requirements of Medical Assisting-Certified (MA-C) in Washington State. This is not a complete and accredited Medical Assisting program, but an accelerated path to clinical skills review for those who already have clinical experience. This hybrid class will require both online and in-person coursework. Students must be present for 4 in-class sessions and complete online assignments to pass the class.

Becoming a certified NAC/CNA is a great entry-level position into the medical field. According to Emsi labor market analytics, the average hourly wage for a starting certified NAC/CNA position in the King County area is between $16-$19 an hour.

- Purchasing and Supply Chain Management

The Continuing Education department, in partnership with the Center of Excellence for Global Trade & Supply Chain Management, is now offering the Purchasing and Supply Chain Management Certificate. It is a 23-credit online certificate program that focuses on the fundamental aspects of the supply/value chain, including methods to improve how organizations find the materials and services needed to make a product or service and deliver it to customers. Supply chain management encompasses the management of all activities involved in sourcing, procurement, production, logistics, and customer relations. It also includes the crucial components of coordination and collaboration with channel partners, which can be suppliers, intermediaries, third-party service providers, and customers.

- Real Estate Broker's License

Want to become a real estate broker? Highline College and Rockwell Institute have partnered together to offer the Real Estate Broker License Certification program. This course is offered completely online with unlimited phone/email support, all documentation and applications required for the state exam and the textbook from Rockwell Institute. The course satisfies the Washington State Department of Licensing requirement of 90 clock hours in Real Estate Fundamentals and Real Estate Practices. Start at any time, students have 6-months to complete the course upon initial registration date.
Real Estate License Requirements
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Successfully complete a 60-hour course in Real Estate Fundamentals and a 30-hour course in Real Estate Practices and pass the WA state licensing exam
After successful completion of the program students will be able to take the state licensing exam. The price for the class is $459 (taxes/shipping not included).
