Botanicals can cover many different species. During this class, we will practice drawing Flowers, Leaves, and Fungai using photocopies and live specimens. We will tentatively schedule a field trip to either a local Farmers Market or a Nursery where we can collect and photograph fresh subjects and draw on-site, following masking and social distancing protocols, and the preference of the registered students. Our group of artists will use colored pencils, pastels, graphite or ink, or a combination of multi-media to execute their artwork.

DSHS requires 54 hours of training to receive the AFH Administrator Training Certificate. Students must attend all class sessions.
AFH Admin In-Person Classes
- A few in-person classes will return to Highline College over the next few quarters. Mask will be optional. Textbooks will be provided on the 1st day of class.
AFH Admin Online Classes
- A Desktop or Laptop is required for online learning. Cellphones & Tablets are not allowed as students will be unable to complete required assignments and access Canvas properly.
- They are held using Zoom & Canvas. Canvas is Highline College's student learning platform. Students will be required before the 1st day of class to set up their Highline Canvas account. Directions to set up your Canvas account will be emailed 5-7 days before class begins. The activation letter will be sent to the email address you included in your registration.
- Instructor Dorothy Schlimme uses Canvas only (no Zoom). Instructors Paul Galasso, Mary Tu'ifua and Juan Gutierrez use both Zoom and Canvas.
- Textbook: A pdf copy of the textbook will be emailed to all students. If you would like a hard copy, please email ce@highline.edu to request a textbook. Usually takes 7-10 business days for the textbook to be mailed out.

The Continuing Education department, in partnership with the Center of Excellence for Global Trade & Supply Chain Management, is now offering the Purchasing and Supply Chain Management Certificate. It is a 23-credit online certificate program that focuses on the fundamental aspects of the supply/value chain, including methods to improve how organizations find the materials and services needed to make a product or service and deliver it to customers. Supply chain management encompasses the management of all activities involved in sourcing, procurement, production, logistics, and customer relations. It also includes the crucial components of coordination and collaboration with channel partners, which can be suppliers, intermediaries, third-party service providers, and customers.

- Real Estate Broker's License

Want to become a real estate broker? Highline College and Rockwell Institute have partnered together to offer the Real Estate Broker License Certification program. This course is offered completely online with unlimited phone/email support, all documentation and applications required for the state exam and the textbook from Rockwell Institute. The course satisfies the Washington State Department of Licensing requirement of 90 clock hours in Real Estate Fundamentals and Real Estate Practices. Start at any time, students have 6-months to complete the course upon initial registration date.
Real Estate License Requirements
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Successfully complete a 60-hour course in Real Estate Fundamentals and a 30-hour course in Real Estate Practices and pass the WA state licensing exam
After successful completion of the program students will be able to take the state licensing exam. The price for the class is $459 (taxes/shipping not included).

- SUDP Fast-Track Certificate

This is an accelerated training to become a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) for Behavioral Health Professionals who are currently working towards or have earned a master’s level degree. The 15 credits are entirely online for eligible students who are interested in becoming an SUDP through the Alternative Training pathway. Students must hold an active license in good standing in the areas of the WAC 246-811-076.
The five courses are designed to meet the education requirements of the Washington Administrative Code (WAC 246-811-077) for alternative training. The courses teach to the TAP 21 addiction counseling competencies and are focused on preparing students to pass the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) credentialing exam. In addition to coursework, students must complete supervised experience hours as required by the state to receive full SUDP credentialing.
