Geology of the Olympic Peninsula

Learn about the geological forces that shaped the Olympic Peninsula. Classroom presentations will be followed with an extensive field trip to important geological sites (Dungeness Spit, Hurricane Ridge, and Tongue Point). Students will view not only the natural beauty of the region, but also see first-hand the rocks and geological structures and landforms of the area. We'll also look at tide pools at Tongue Point, and we have often seen black bears along Hurricane Ridge Road. Great class for hikers, naturalists, rock hounds, or anyone with an interest in geology! Weather permitting, we will finish our field trip with a potluck BBQ at Log Cabin Resort, Lake Crescent.

Class includes 1.0 CEUs for students who meet attendance requirements. View Student Learning Outcomes
