By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- Identify common igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks found along the Pacific Coast of the Olympic Peninsula.
- Explain the theory of plate tectonics and identify the three types of plate boundaries and the geological features that characterize each.
- Understand and explain the geological processes and history that formed the Olympic Peninsula.
- Understand and explain the geology of some of your favorite hiking and boating destinations around the Olympic Peninsula.
Students taking this class for Continuing Education Units (CEUs) must attend 80% of classes. Email communityed@pencol.edu for your CEU Verification Letter at the completion of class.
