Academic Non-Credit (ANC) FAQs

What is Academic Non-Credit (ANC)?

Academic Non-Credit (ANC) is an enrollment process that places a learner with a non-credit designation ("non-credit learner") in a classroom alongside credit-earning learners without having to apply to RRCC through the standard admissions process (transcripts, academic readiness, NSO, etc.).

Who can enroll in ANC?

  • Newly hired employees across industries who have gaps in skills and need skills-based training

  • Employers who have various and diverse skills training (upskilling) needs for their employees and prefer options that allow them to pay by invoice or PO for groups of 2 or more

  • Incumbent workers who need consistent professional development and training in new equipment, software, or technology or methodologies

  • Those wanting to take a class just for fun.

How do I enroll in an Academic Non-Credit Course?

You can enroll in a course through our online registration system: https://www.campusce.net/redrocks. Click “Course Catalog,” and then “Academic Non-Credit” to see our offering of courses and if the course you are interested in is available. Then add it to the cart, proceed to checkout, and you will receive a confirmation email.

What are the costs of ANC courses?

Academic Non-Credit learners who enroll pay the full equivalent in-state Colorado cost of tuition (and any course fees) for access to the course. Seniors aged 65+ would pay the Resident COF rate and any directly applicable program fees.

Additionally, if a class does not run due to low enrollment (or no seats available) then the registered ANC learner would receive a notification and full refund before the start of the class.

What can I expect from an ANC course?

Academic Non-Credit learners get access to all equivalent course materials and the qualified instructor.

Academic Non-Credit learners are strongly encouraged to participate fully in each class but are not required to for completion.

Non-credit transcripts for ANC courses are available upon request.

What are restrictions or exclusions to an ANC course?

Academic Non-Credit learners can only enroll in three participating Academic Non-Credit course per semester.

Seats in classes for ANC learners are not guaranteed. Students who enroll in the for-credit version of the class receive priority for placement over ANC learners. Additionally, if a class does not run due to low enrollment (or no seats available) then the registered ANC learner would receive a notification and full refund before the start of the class.

Academic Non-Credit learners do not have access to collegewide resources that include, but are not limited to library services, the recreation center, advising, financial aid, the Learning Commons, and Student Life.

Career and Accessibility services may be available based on need and availability of resources. Please call the Rocky Mountain Education Center before you course starts at 800-933-8394 or 303-914-6420.
