Step into the wild this fall and discover what you're truly capable of in our six-day Survival Skills Immersion Course. Designed for adventurers, outdoor leaders, and anyone who wants to deepen their connection to the natural world, this hands-on course blends ancient knowledge with modern survival techniques. You’ll learn multiple different ways to make fire, build shelters from the land, identify wild edibles, craft traps, carve your own wooden spoon, and make strong, natural cordage.

The highlight? A three-day field expedition where you'll live what you learn—sleeping in a primitive shelter you've built yourself, thriving with only what you carry and what the land provides.

You’ll also build your own “perfect survival kit,” informed by real-world experience and expert instruction. Whether you're new to bushcraft or looking to refine your skills, this immersive course will challenge, inspire, and prepare you for whatever the wilderness—or life—throws your way.

    Day trips (9:00am - 5:00pm) on Friday 9/5, Saturday 9/6, and Sunday 9/7 2025 . Overnight expedition on Friday 9/19-Sunday 9/21 2025. Equipment provided.

    Instructor bio:

David Michael Scott is a seasoned wilderness educator with over 25 years of experience. His journey began as a globe-trotting kayak instructor and evolved through a B.A. in Outdoor Education, where he taught backpacking, climbing, survival, and risk management. A 90-day NOLS course—complete with a cowboy-led sweat lodge—ignited his passion for primitive skills and led to two years guiding teens in a wilderness therapy program.

Later, David joined the Peace Corps, living in a remote Amazon village where he deepened his understanding of sustainable living. He holds an M.A. in Mathematics Education from UC Boulder and founded Fire Heart Adventures to share his love of the wild. His adventures include a 21-day survival challenge on Naked and Afraid.

Today, David teaches survival at a youth summer camp and Red Rocks Community College, balancing his time as an artist, woodworker, and project manager—all while continuing to help others reconnect with nature.
