Perhaps the biggest criticism about today’s media is that it is biased. Miriam Webster defines bias as an inclination of temperament or outlook. Is bias inescapable or do we secretly want it in the media we consume? In this course, we will learn about the history of media bias and how it exists in today’s media coverage. We will explore ways to learn about your own bias as a news consumer and how to evaluate – and counterbalance - bias in news coverage.
