Proper Woman’s Work - The women behind the artists
Is there such thing as the lone genius, the man who does it all and is justifiably famous for his efforts? No.
Join me for an in-depth look at the women who did more than just type their husband’s manuscript ( #thanksfortyping), but nurtured, nursed, and promoted some of the most famous artists of our time. We will look behind the curtain at who is really responsible for the fame and influence of artists like Kerouac, Yeats, Balanchine, Joyce and Dickinson and discover the mechanics, the leverage, and the shear work of keeping their legend alive. This is a celebration of the women who labor behind the scenes and without whom much of our art and literature would not have entered the cannon. (Term 1 Class)
