The history of the 14 Dalai Lamas begins with the great Buddhist Master Je Tsongkapa (1359 - 1419) and ends with current 14th Dalai Lama. How did this line of the spiritual and temporal leaders of Tibet start and is the 14th Dalai Lama the last one? What was special about each and every Dalai Lama? How did the name Dalai Lama originate. Which Dalai Lamas have the most historical influence and which were drunkards and womanizers. Which were great Buddhist Scholars and which died at an early age accomplishing nothing? These questions and more will be answered during this look through the history of the men who became Dalai Lamas. (Term 1 Class)
