The Japanese Internment    NEW!

NEW - Executive Order 9066, implemented in February, 1942, legally justified the relocation and internment of Japanese residents and Japanese-Americans. Beginning with 19th century political history, the narrative of this problematic internment during World War II will be examined. The Manzanar, Tule Lake, and Topaz Mountain internment camps will be studied in detail using original source material, excerpts from site visits, personal narratives, photography, and art in an attempt to understand this critical episode of American history and subsequent political and social implications.
