The History of Rock: 1970s Part 2

This class will showcase the music and the artists during rock's greatest decade. You’ll watch a variety of music videos, video interviews with the artists, and learn their compelling personal stories. In 1970s San Francisco, the Doobie Brothers, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Santana, Steve Miller, and the Grateful Dead created a rich musical legacy. Hard rock icons Led Zeppelin, Heart, Bad Company, and Boston dominated FM rock radio. In the 70s, pop music legends Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, and Linda Ronstadt delivered hit after hit. Progressive rock (Yes, Jethro Tull,) flourished the first half of the decade, but by the late 70s a new genre of rock was ushered in by the Police, Blondie, and Talking Heads. (Term 1 Class)
