This second part of the class will cover the period from 1800 - 1824 and look at the continued growth of the American nation through westward expansion and the Louisiana Purchase. Problems in the realm of foreigns affairs will be explored, that will result in the War of 1812. The new leaders of the American republic will be introduced, including Andrew Jackson, Henry Clay, John Quincy Adams and John C Calhoun. The beginning of disagreements between North and South will emerge and almost reach a crisis, which is averted with the Missouri Compromise. We will end with the election of 1824 and the "corrupt bargain." (Term 2 Class)
