The Yardbirds are not just one of those iconic bands from the 1960s, they were the birthing ground, the launchpad for a truly awesome hat-trick of musical legends: Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page. It’s 30 years since they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The Yardbirds expanded the range of electric guitar with feedback, sustain and fuzz tone, making their own the habit of a free-for-all jam before the final verse, the bridge between the tributary of white R&B of early '60s London and the pastures of psychedelia and power chorded heavy metal. The band formed in the summer of 1963 and continued until band finally broke up in 1968. This is their story.
