Upton Sinclair’s 1906 book so greatly moved President Theodore Roosevelt to action that he helped draft legislation to create the Food and Drug Administration. The first class will discuss Sinclair, a Socialist activist, and Roosevelt’s reform measures. The second class will be devoted solely to the book’s contents.
