    Our criminal justice system has seen profound changes over the past 30 years. The war on drugs, exploding incarceration rates and a wave of new crimes related to the computer have put increasing strain on an already overwhelmed system. Advances in technology and changing public attitudes will be two of the many factors that will shape changes in the way we police, prosecute and sentence criminal offenders. This course is designed to explore how the next generation will handle crime.

    Learn how the Nevada County Superior Court's civil grand juries serve their communities by investigating citizen complaints, reviewing how governments conduct business, and report to the public. You'll also learn how this body of 19 county residents works, how and who it benefits, and how to become a civil grand juror.
