Working in an era when most actresses were considered finished by age 30, Bette Davis went on to star in over 90 films and receive an extraordinary 11 Oscar nominations for Best Actress. In this class we’re going to dive into just a little bit of her impressive career and watch and discuss: "Now, Voyager" (1942); “All About Eve” (1950); and “Hush… Hush, Sweet Charlotte” (1964).

    Swedish Homes, a late 19th to early 20th-century cooperative women's guild, empowered housewives as consumers while giving a political voice to marginalized women. This series examines four key movements from 1905 to 1908 that shaped Swedish reforms: the grocery cooperative, suffrage, prostitution, and gendered labor, each highlighting the struggle for women's rights and social change. Swedish films with English subtitles.

In this class we will watch the top three together (with an intermission due to their length) and discuss their impact on movie history plus their importance as a political statement on the world from the 1960's until today. All three won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
