Put some music fans in the same room and sooner or later, they will ask each other ‘what's your favorite song?’. If we talk about Rock fans, there will be some choosing Smoke on the Water, others Bohemian Rhapsody, some Stairway to Heaven and many will have other choices. With audiovisuals, stories and anecdotes, let’s discuss what makes these songs great, the context when they became classics, the songwriters, the performers, their cultural significance and their resonance across time. The focus here will be on Rock from the 60s and 70s, a period with plenty of great music to enjoy.

The roster of artists at Warner Brothers Records and its subsidiary labels reads like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: Jimi Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac, Prince, Tom Petty, James Taylor, R.E.M., Madonna, Grateful Dead, Doobie Brothers, Paul Simon, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, and dozens of others. But the most compelling figures in the Warner Bros. story are its sagacious leader, Mo Ostin, and his unlikely crew of hippies, eccentrics, and enlightened executives who created the most successful record label in history. The story of how they conquered the music business is as raucous as it is inspiring and entertaining.
