The Pennsylvania Dutch (Deutsch) cultures of Southeastern Pennsylvania are fascinating people who came from Germany. They are both "Plain and Fancy" and have lived together since the early 1700s. Plain people, Amish and Mennonite, shun modern conveniences and farm without electricity and can be seen in traveling in their horse and buggies. Fancy people have large red barns decorated with colorful "hex signs." Join your teacher for a fascinating journey through the art, food, culture and language of her home. (Term 2 Class)
