This course is designed to equip leaders with effective strategies for delivering both praise and constructive feedback. It covers techniques for navigating challenging conversations and minimizing resistance from recipients. Additionally, the course addresses how to manage conflict and deal with difficult personalities through the proper use of assertive communication, both in one-on-one situations and when mediating conflict between employees.

Developing Personal Assertiveness is a course that teaches people tools to develop more assertiveness to help improve relationships, confront difficult situations, and handle conflict without becoming aggressive. In this course, we cover specific assertiveness tools such as demonstrating assertive speech, using negative inquiry, If/When statements, DESC technique, and disagreeing without becoming disagreeable.

Emotional Intelligence (EI) Core Components, skills and habits. In this course, we will explore the 3 basic core components of Emotional Intelligence. The first is emotional awareness — the ability to identify your own emotions and the emotions of others. The second is the ability to harness emotions and apply them to tasks such as thinking and problem solving, and the third is the ability to manage emotions, regulating your own and being able to cheer up others or calm them down when they need it. There are several habits exhibited by emotionally intelligent people. We will review 10 of them and have opportunities to practice them, and receive feedback, during this course.

Each participant will receive a report that looks at a person’s emotional intelligence, which is the ability to sense, understand and effectively apply the power and acumen of emotions to facilitate high levels of collaboration and productivity. 

Employees are often promoted into management roles with little training in human resources, yet managing people is a primary responsibility on which their success depends. If managers do not understand employment laws and concepts such as ADAAA, FCRA, implied contract, BFOQ, protected class, FLSA, or discrimination, they may be unintentionally placing their employers at risk. In this course, managers will learn about federal and state employment laws as well as the importance of implementing effective HR practices from employee hiring through separation. Special emphasis will be given to the importance of maintaining a harassment-free, discrimination free workplace.

The outcome is a comprehensive report outlining the participant's strengths, developmental needs and training recommendations.
