Collaged image of an old man with cogs and tubes coming from his head in sepia-tone, overlaid with an illustrated symbol in green and white. From tarot cards and chance operations to AI systems and generative text, The IndraNet: Chance, Systems, & Encoded Meaning investigates how artists use structure, randomness, and concealment to create meaning. This studio-based course introduces generative prompts, collaborative text experiments, symbolic object-making, and projects that explore containment, preservation, and transformation. Students will create both permanent and intentionally temporary works using digital and mixed-media approaches. Topics include visual language, memes and logos, embedded messages, and art as time capsule. Dive into deep study of selected works by W.S. Burroughs, Brion Gysin, Mark Boyle, the FLUXUS Group and others, as well as texts from Tolkien, Rene Girard, The Surrealists, and Jean Baudrillard. Designed for creative thinkers interested in experimentation, reflection, and understanding how meaning circulates in an increasingly automated world. This course can be taken after Accidental Alchemy, or on its own—no prior experience required.

Course fee includes supplies and materials.
