LEARN LOCALLY, TEACH LOCALLY, AND GROW TOGETHER

Chart Your Course: Maritime Career Exploration Experience

Curious about a career on the water? This no-cost, weeklong maritime exploration program introduces participants to welding, diesel engine repair, refrigeration systems, and vessel operations and deckhand skills. Learn directly from captains and maritime industry professionals through hands-on activities, vessel visits, and real-world demonstrations designed to help you explore career pathways and build employable skills for the maritime industry in our region.

Open to ages 16–29 in Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties.

We'll send you additional information by email, but for now, plan to wear clothes that can get dirty along with waterproof boots or other closed-toe shoes. You'll be working outdoors, on the water, and around machinery and tools that may be dangerous.

This experience is part of the Westport Maritime Futures program developed in partnership with Emerald Coast Communications, Maiden Voyage, and The Helm. The Westport Maritime Futures program is 100% funded by the US Department of Labor Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Career Connect Washington through an award totalling $243,000. HOW TO REGISTER

  1. Complete the required Information and Consent form online for each participant.* This form provides us with information about you, your interests, and your emergency contacts, as well as a signed Authorization and Consent to participate. If you are under 18, you will need to provide your parent or guardian's contact information as well and they must sign the Authorization and Consent portion, so work together on this form. If you are over 18, you may enter N/A in the parent/guardian information section and sign the Authorization and Consent yourself. The form takes a few seconds to load. *This form is not currently available, so you may skip this step for now. We'll email the form to you to complete your registration.
  2. Return to this page and add the course to your cart.
  3. Create an account and check out. Each participant needs their own account and must check out separately. We will confirm receipt of the Information and Consent form and you will have a spot reserved for you. If we haven't received your Information and Consent form within three days of your registration here, you will be dropped and your spot will be open to someone else, but we will reach out to you by phone and email before that happens.
  4. Repeat the steps above for additional participants.

Please call (360) 538-2539 for assistance or to register by phone. We're happy to help and will call you back as soon as possible if you have to leave a voicemail!
