 Everyone has personal and family stories which are usually shared verbally but tend to disappear with time. This class will present approaches to recording these stories and preserving them for either personal purposes or to share with future generations. Concepts covered will include a basic introduction to history and its creation, issues of privacy and human relations, and suggestions for sharing formats. Taught by an experienced museum professional, this course invites you to turn family lore into history to be enjoyed in your lifetime and discovered by generations to come.

Writing, speaking, and storytelling are related skills--and anyone can learn them. Whether you write for fun, want to create better content, or hope to improve your public speaking, you'll learn practical techniques from a professional speechwriter and former journalist.
You'll focus on these topics each week:
- Class 1: Writing -- How to write to inform (journalism), persuade (speechwriting), or entertain (storytelling).
- Class 2: Speaking -- The three kinds of speeches, three kinds of audiences, and three steps to persuasion.
- Class 3: Storytelling -- How narratives work, and why they're the best structure for any form of communication you use.

Take your Italic script to the next level! This Intermediate Italic Calligraphy course builds on the foundational strokes, letterforms, and spacing principles introduced in the beginning class. Students will deepen their technical precision while developing greater fluency, consistency, and personal expression in their lettering.
This class emphasizes a supportive, hands-on learning environment where practice and feedback go hand in hand. You’ll spend dedicated time writing, refining, and asking questions in real time, with individualized guidance to help you strengthen consistency, improve flow, and gain confidence in your work. Whether you’re fine-tuning details or pushing toward more polished results, you’ll be encouraged at every step.
By the end of the course, you’ll feel confident creating beautiful, refined pieces that add elegance and meaning to life’s special moments, making birthdays, holidays, celebrations, and keepsakes even more memorable with personalized calligraphy.
Supplies
Supplies should be purchased in advance. The supplies list has links to John Neal Books, Instructor Tammie Jones' preferred vendor, but it is not required that you purchase these items from that specific site as long as you purchase the exact items required. You'll be using the supplies beginning in the first class, so be sure to order early and have the items shipped directly to you.

- Screenwriting for Beginners

Before “lights, camera, action!” there’s the blueprint of filmmaking: the script. In this introductory course, students will explore the fundamentals of writing for the screen and learn how a strong script becomes the foundation of a successful film. Students will also be introduced to standard screenplay formatting and some tools used by working screenwriters. Whether you’re an aspiring filmmaker, a storyteller curious about writing for film, or simply interested in how movies are made, this class provides a supportive environment to begin developing your ideas and turning them into compelling scripts.

Build confidence in everyday Spanish. In this course, you'll practice essential vocabulary, pronunciation, and conversation skills for real-life situations. Depending on the interest and skills of participants, topics may include introductions, travel, dining, family, and community interactions. Along the way, you'll gain cultural insights that deepen your understanding of traditions, values, and regional differences across the Spanish-speaking world. All levels welcome.
