Adult Family Home Administrator Training   

This course meets the Washington State DSHS requirement for Adult Family Home providers. Most of our instructors are current/past board members of the Adult Family Home Council of Washington State. The class is strongly suggested for Resident Managers but is not required. For more information regarding all training requirements, please visit the DSHS website.

Requirements:

• Students must register using their legal first/last name to receive a DSHS Certificate of Completion after successfully completing the course.

• Students must provide a valid photo ID card on the first day of class.

• DSHS requires 54 hours of training to receive the AFH Administrator Training Certificate.  Students must attend all class sessions.

AFH Admin Online Classes 

• A Desktop or Laptop is required for online learning.  Cellphones & Tablets are not allowed as students will be unable to complete required assignments and access Canvas properly. 
• They are held using Zoom & Canvas. Canvas is Highline College's student learning platform.  Students will be required before the 1st day of class to set up their Highline Canvas account.  Instructions to set up your Canvas account will be emailed 7-10 days before class begins. The activation letter will be sent to the email address you included in your registration.
• Zoom & Canvas access are required to complete the course.
• Textbook: A pdf copy of the textbook will be emailed to all students.  If you would like a hard copy of the textbook, you can pick it up at the Highline College Continuing Education office located at 23609 Pacific Hwy South, Suite #202, Des Moines, WA, 98198.

This course is approved by DSHS and provides an overview of Dementia and teaches various approaches for effective care management. You will receive a certificate upon successful completion with an 80% or better. Can be applied toward DSHS CE hours within the same calendar year. This course follows the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services Guidelines.

DSHS Requirements:

• Students must register using their legal first/last name to receive a DSHS Certificate of Completion after successfully completing the course.
• Students must provide a valid photo ID card at the beginning of class.
• Zoom is required to complete the course. Registered students will receive a Zoom link 5-7 days prior to the class date.
• A Desktop or Laptop is required for online learning. Cellphones & Tablets are not allowed.
• Your video and audio must be on and in focus for the duration of the class, excluding bathroom breaks and the designated break for lunch.

Approved by DSHS, the issue of diabetes is a major health concern in the United States. Diabetes adds significantly to the difficulty of caregiving in long-term care settings, with complications related to insulin management, nutrition, exercise, and skincare among other issues. You will receive a certificate upon successful completion with an 80% or better. Can be applied toward DSHS CE hours within the same calendar year.
