This course meets the Washington State DSHS requirement for Adult Family Home providers. All of our instructors are either current/past board members of the Adult Family Home Council of Washington State. The class is strongly suggested for Resident Managers but is not required. For more information regarding all training requirements, please visit the DSHS website.
Students must register using their legal first/last name to receive a DSHS Certificate of Completion after successfully completing the course.
Students must provide a valid photo ID card on the first day of class.
Students must have a minimum of 48 hours in-class time to receive the AFH Administrator Training Certificate.
A Desktop or Laptop is required for online learning. Cellphones & Tablets are not allowed as students will be unable to complete required assignments and access Canvas properly.

This course is approved by DSHS and provides the necessary certification as a Dementia Capable Caregiver: Level 1. The class provides an overview of Dementia and teaches various approaches for effective care management. Students will receive a certificate of completion upon successful completion. The course can be applied towards DSHS CE hours in the calendar year they were taken. This course follows the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services Guidelines.
Diabetes is a major health concern in the United States. Diabetes adds significantly to the difficulty of caregiving in long-term care settings, with complications related to insulin management, nutrition, exercise, and skincare among other issues. Through group discussions and case studies, learners will focus on understanding the diverse care needs of individuals with diabetes or at risk for getting it.
