This is an independent study, self-paced course.
This course will provide you with an understanding of the components of the Hyundai-Kia (GIT) EDR Tool and Tesla EDR Tool. We will show you the basic functions of the hardware and software of the respective tools. It is designed to teach the user to confidently collect and preserve data from the airbag control module of Hyundai, Kia, and Tesla vehicles.
We will begin by learning basic terms and definitions specific to GIT and Tesla, then discuss how to determine whether a vehicle is supported with these tools. You will learn how to use the equipment and software to collect the data, and then how to preserve and save the collected data for later analysis.
Topics Include
- Terms and definitions
- Vehicle/cable look up and identification
- In-vehicle DLC (Hyundai-Kia) or CAN (Tesla) connector data collection
- Direct to module (D2M) data collection
- Repowering options for data collection
- GIT (Hyundai-Kia) hardware overview
- GIT (Hyundai-Kia) software overview
- Hyundai-Kia EDR report basics
- Tesla hardware overview
- Tesla software overview
- Tesla EDR report basics
To successfully complete the course, you will be required to use the Hyundai-Kia GIT EDR tool and Tesla EDR tool to collect EDR data from two different vehicles/modules. The data obtained during these self-guided practical exercises will need to be uploaded into the online system. If you are in a foreign country and/or do not have access to the equipment, you are welcome to take the class and exams but will not be eligible for a certificate if you are unable to complete the required practical applications.
Prior to the start of the course, you must have in your possession:
- GIT Software for either Hyundai or Kia EDR Software* (Not Included)
- GIT Hyundai or Kia EDR tool kit and direct-to-module (D2M) cables as needed
