Our ceramics courses are designed for students from all levels- from the absolute beginner to experienced potters and sculptors. Classes are held in our beautiful, fully equipped studio. Eighteen potter's wheels, a slab roller, canvas covered work tables, ample storage space and the use of studio tools as well as clay, glaze, and firings are all included in the course fee. All that is missing is you!
Please do not bring in any outside clay or glazes as they may not be compatible with our ceramic studio materials. Classes may include students from multiple sessions.
The potter's wheel allows you to quickly and efficiently create pots of uniform shape, size, and thickness. The wheel is a tool that helps the artist make aesthetic decisions based on the mechanical steps of operation. There are two beginner forms to master on the potter's wheel, and from those, anything can be made and altered into shape: the cylinder & the bowl. In this class students will receive one on one instruction and encouragement for a hands-on experience to learn the aspects of wheel thrown pottery.
