Wilderness First Aid (WFA) is a great option for those seeking a short but thorough introduction to recognizing emergencies and practicing lifesaving skills for someone sick or injured, and who tend to have short visits to resource-limited environments where definitive care (i.e., an ambulance, clinic or hospital) is less than a day away.
Specific topics include:
- Critical body systems
- System for assessing a patient
- Recognizing emergencies and calling for help
- Stopping a bleed, CPR
- Moving a patient
- Musculoskeletal and spine injuries and splinting
- Wound management
- Recognizing and treating anaphylaxis
- Environmental topics such as lightening, cold and heat-related injuries, water immersion and toxins
Certification is through Wilderness Medical Associates Internation. Certification is valid for 3 years and includes Adult CPR following AHA/ILCOR standards. To re-certify consider upgrading to a Wilderness Advanced First Aid (WAFA) or Wilderness First Responder (WFR), or take another WFA course before your cert expires.

Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is the worldwide standard in wilderness medical education and is a great choice for those regularly adventuring or working in remote environments. The WFR certification is a common requirement for outdoor professionals including those working in adventure guiding, ecotourism, search & rescue and more.
This Hybrid course includes a required e-learning section with at least 12 hours of interactive online learning followed by 16 hours of in-person learning over two days. The e-learning section includes interactive learning modules with videos, readings, self-practice assignments, quizzes, and case studies. It is recommended that students register two to four weeks prior to the course to ensure adequate time to complete the e-learning section.
Open to adults 18 years and older. Certification is through Wilderness Medical Associates International.
You must be a current WFR graduate to qualify for this recertification class. Please see Curriculum, Requirements and Eligibility.
This class was rescheduled from April to June due to low enrollment.

Yoga Nidra, also called "yogic sleep", is similar to a guided meditation but is a tool used to lead one toward their unconscious, and is believed to improve stress management, memory, and attention. This experience is designed to prime participants for the shift from the long, sunny days of summer to the chilly, darkness of winter while encouraging them to explore and embrace the figurative and literal changes that accompany seasonal transitions.
The practice will begin with a gentle yoga flow to help release extra energy and tension in the body, followed by a long, relaxing guided yoga nidra.
Participants should dress in comfortable layered clothing they can move freely in. A limited number of yoga mats and props are available to borrow, so you're encouraged to bring your own if you have them.

Our ceramics courses are designed for students from all levels- from the absolute beginner to experienced potters and sculptors. Classes are held in our beautiful, fully equipped studio. Eighteen potter's wheels, a slab roller, canvas covered work tables , ample storage space and the use of studio tools as well as clay, glaze, and firings are all included in the course fee. All that is missing is you!
Please do not bring in any outside clay or glazes as they may not be compatible with our ceramic studio materials. Classes may include students from multiple sessions.
The potter's wheel allows you to quickly and efficiently create pots of uniform shape, size, and thickness. The wheel is a tool that helps the artist make aesthetic decisions based on the mechanical steps of operation. There are two beginner forms to master on the potter's wheel, and from those, anything can be made and altered into shape: the cylinder & the bowl. In this class students will receive one on one instruction and encouragement for a hands-on experience to learn the aspects of wheel thrown pottery.

Learn about the geological forces that shaped the Olympic Peninsula. Classroom presentations will be followed with an extensive field trip to important geological sites (Dungeness Spit, Hurricane Ridge, and Tongue Point). Students will view not only the natural beauty of the region, but also see first-hand the rocks and geological structures and landforms of the area. We'll also look at tide pools at Tongue Point, and we have often seen black bears along Hurricane Ridge Road. Great class for hikers, naturalists, rock hounds, or anyone with an interest in geology! Weather permitting, we will finish our field trip with a potluck BBQ at Log Cabin Resort, Lake Crescent.

Eighteen potter's wheels, a slab roller, canvas covered work tables , ample storage space and the use of studio tools as well as clay, glaze, and firings are all included in the course fee. This course provides an overview of ceramic processes from hand building techniques, including pinch, coil, and slab construction to wheel throwing or forming pots on the potter’s wheel. Bring photos, sketches, and ideas of the dream project you wish to create in clay.

If you can learn to sew a straight line, you can learn to quilt! If you have ever wanted to make a quilt and had no idea where to start, this is the class for you!
Quilting class is hands-on, and students will learn by doing. Beginning students will learn the process of making a quilt and will design and make a lap-size quilt using the pattern Disappearing 9-Patch. Intermediate and advanced quilters will be provided with project options. Students are responsible for purchasing and bringing their own supplies. Click here for Supply List.
You will learn basic color theory, how to select fabrics, measuring with flat rulers, rotary cutting, piecing, basting, quilting, binding, and labeling. Students will be provided with quilt patterns to choose from. More experienced students can come for support and may work on projects of their choosing.
