Have you wanted to hike in the outdoors but don’t know where to start? Or are you looking to hike with like-minded folks with a qualified guide? Welcome to Adventure Hikes on the Olympic Peninsula! In this class, you will have the opportunity to learn a multitude of outdoors skills for either day hiking or backpacking overnight in a 1-day weekend day hiking session. Learn about carrying the 10 Essentials, making a first aid kit, wilderness safety, setting up your camp, navigation options, trip planning, food prep, gear usage and field maintenance, wild animal encounters, and more! In this group setting, students are welcome to bring their collection of hiking and backpacking gear so that we can stage campsite setups, emergency scenarios, and enjoy a lovely day hike on the Olympic Peninsula! An online classroom will provide resources for students who want to self-study before the hands-on practicum exercises.

Take a stroll on the Upper Dungeness Trail through towering old growth Douglas-fir trees, mossy undergrowth full of fungi, all along the rushing Dungeness river. This trail is good for all ages with easy to moderate terrain, and ends at the historic Camp Handy structure with a great view of the mountains.

From beginners to experienced potters and sculptors, this course is designed to allow you to work with all ceramic materials and creative processes, from the potter's wheel to hand building techniques. Students will have a full ceramics studio available to learn how to work with clays and glazes. Learn a new skill, brush up on your wheel throwing, or work on your own independent projects. An instructor will be giving instruction on all levels, catering demonstrations to the needs of your project.
Please note: All materials provided including clay, studio tools, glazes, and firings. Please do not bring in any outside clay or glazes as they may not be compatible with the materials in the studio. Classes may include students from multiple sessions.

This class prepares students to receive a Flagger Certification card, which is valid for 3 years in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. Students must be at least 18 years old and must bring a valid State I.D. Card or Drivers License to the class. There is an open book test at the end of class in which you must have a passing score of 80% in order to receive your certification.

- Class is full-day for full certification and partial-day for recertification.
- Students receive Traffic Control Flagger Certification Handbook (yours to keep and reference on the job).

Advanced Screenwriting is a continuation for students from either the Port Angeles (Winter) or Port Townsend (Fall) Beginning Screenwriting classes to advance their scripts. It is also open to any folks with screenwriting experience who want to further develop their skills and/or a specific script. Along with providing a supportive "writer's room" environment, the class will dig deeper into scene structure, developing credible dialogue, re-writing, and preparing your project for professional applications: festivals, the entertainment industry, actual production.

This course is designed for the artist and/or hobbyist and will cover welding safety, oxyacetylene welding and plasma cutting. Various techniques of metal forming and design will be covered. Methods of instruction will include lectures on principles of safety practices, welding and cutting processes, shielding gasses, and filler metals.

Everyone has a story. Have you always wanted to write your story? If you already have a body of work, collection of essays or even a memoir manuscript in hand, you will enjoy this class. Beginners are welcome too. Through writing exercises and prompts you'll be able to dig deep into your story and make it universally important to the ones you love and the world. Wherever you are in your life or on your writing journey you will appreciate your fellow writer and having an experienced writer, teacher, and mentor.
Open to students 16 years of age and older.
Required: Ability to use Zoom (free video conferencing software) on a PC, tablet, or phone. If you are new to Zoom, please visit our Learning Online page for instructions and helpful links. As a reminder, online courses require an internet connection and the ability to interact both through audio and video using either a web camera and microphone, speakers and a headset, or via a mobile phone connection.
