Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is the worldwide standard in wilderness medical education and is a great choice for those regularly adventuring or working in remote environments. The WFR certification is a common requirement for outdoor professionals including those working in adventure guiding, ecotourism, search & rescue and more. More Information
This 5-day hybrid option (as opposed to the traditional 7-10 day WFR) is best for those who can commit to intensive pre-course study which introduces all the general concepts needed before the 5-days of on-site review and hands-on practice in class. The 5 days in class involve intensive patient assessment drills, practice scenarios, simulated events with extensive debriefs and case studies. There is increased emphasis on prolonged patient care/monitoring, critical thinking and evacuation decisions. It is recommended that students register two to three weeks prior to the course to ensure adequate time to complete the e-learning section.
Open to students 18 years of age and older.

- Critical body systems
- System for assessing a patient
- Recognizing emergencies and calling for help
- Stopping a bleed, CPR
- Moving a patient
- Musculoskeletal and spine injuries and splinting
- Wound management
- Recognizing and treating anaphylaxis

This Hybrid course includes a required e-learning section with at least 12 hours of interactive online learning followed by 16 hours of in-person learning over two days. The e-learning section includes interactive learning modules with videos, readings, self-practice assignments, quizzes, and case studies. It is recommended that students register two to three weeks prior to the course to ensure adequate time to complete the e-learning section.
Open to adults 18 years and older. Certification is through Wilderness Medical Associates International. Explore how glaciers and glacial ice ages shaped the Olympic Peninsula, Eastern Washington, North America, and the entire Earth. Geologists now recognize that the Earth has experienced six ice ages including “Snowball Earth” from 850 - 635 million years ago. Examination of glacial landforms such as moraines, eskers, drumlins and glacial erratics that occur here on the Olympic Peninsula and formed during the last Ice Age beginning 2.58 million years ago. Landforms created during the Ice Age Missoula floods of Eastern Washington’s Channeled Scablands will also be discussed.
Student Learning Outcomes:
1. What is a glacier and how do they form?
2. Briefly discuss the six ice ages found within the geological record.

A hands-on filmmaking workshop for actors, writers and directors to bring stories to the screen. Students get the opportunity to share their work as part of a Student Film showcase in the spring. This quarter students are introduced to film production with guest filmmaker Mark Schwartz and Dr. Lara Starcevich. Students learn about storytelling, technical skills, and the collaborative nature of filmmaking, often through hands-on projects and lab experiences.

Fundamental outcomes of the course include: taking an initial idea through all of the stages of development--pre-production, production, and post-production.

Thwaaack!! The sound of an arrow hitting the target, hopefully the 10 ring! Target archery can be enjoyed in a wide variety of ways, from a meditative part of your day all the way to Olympic competition. This class is designed to get students started on what ever archery path they choose.
This class will be hands on, always! Hands on training aids, bows, arrows, targets, range set up will all be part of the class. There will be next to zero talking head time!
We will use basic recurve bows with low draw weight to learn shot mechanics and range procedures. Toward the end of class, student questions about purchasing their own equipment would be addressed. All equipment and supplies are provided.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Be able to identify the parts of a recurve bow and an arrow.
- Be able to follow archery safety procedures.
- Follow archery range rules.
- Respond to 4 different whistle commands while on the range.
- Commit to memory, and practice the 11 steps to archery success.

Our ceramics courses are designed for students from all levels- from the absolute beginner to experienced potters and sculptors. Classes are held in our beautiful, fully equipped studio. Eighteen potter's wheels, a slab roller, canvas covered work tables, ample storage space and the use of studio tools as well as clay, glaze, and firings are all included in the course fee. All that is missing is you!
Please do not bring in any outside clay or glazes as they may not be compatible with our ceramic studio materials. Classes may include students from multiple sessions.

Ready to take your ceramics to the next level? This course builds on the foundational skills learned in previous classes and offers the opportunity to explore more advanced techniques in both wheel throwing and hand-building. Students will refine their craftsmanship, experiment with complex forms, and develop greater control over shape, texture, and glaze application.
This class is best suited for those who have taken at least one or two ceramics courses (at Peninsula College or elsewhere) or have prior experience and are looking to grow their skills. If it’s been a while since you last worked with clay, don’t worry—our instructor will help you ease back in and continue your creative journey.

Join the Everyday Entrepreneur “Pirate Pitch” Competition course, where you’ll develop a comprehensive entrepreneurship project and pitch your venture for a chance to win one of three cash prizes: 1st place – $2,000, 2nd place – $1,250, 3rd place – $750.
This course supports you in identifying, validating, and refining business opportunities while helping you avoid costly mistakes. Students receive one-on-one coaching and gain access to a network of industry experts to guide them from idea to pitch-ready.
Upon successful completion of this course a student will:
- Implement entrepreneurship perspectives while developing a plan for success in their chosen field or service.
- Develop a risk assessment plan on an industry and the potential pitfalls and hazards through a designated period of implementing the growth.
- Develop a plan for cash flow for implementation of the startup or growth plan implementation.
- Create and present a pitch demonstrating entrepreneurial idea or business growth plan.
This class may include students from multiple sections.

Build on your existing Spanish skills to reach an intermediate level of comprehension, vocabulary, and idioms. This course strengthens your ability to understand and speak through practical scenarios, encouraging you to apply your skills in real-life contexts. You’ll also enjoy virtual travel experiences that showcase the rich cultures of Spain, Central America, and South America. This course now includes access to Canvas for easy reference to learning documents!
Prerequisite: Spanish Language 2 or equivalent experience. Students with a background who are able to hold a conversation in Spanish are welcome and encouraged to sign up for this class. Students will be taught to negotiate, persuade, request and express themselves effectively.

Healing Tai Chi has been practiced for thousands of years by many Asian cultures. The practice of these "soft" movement may have numerous health benefits, including an increased sense of relaxation, improved blood flow, muscle tone, and better balance. The course includes demonstrations and exercises; students will have lots of practice performing Tai Chi forms and Tai Chi fan.

Nurture the body and mind with belly dance. This ancient art form is a full body low impact dance that can help with balance, posture, flexibility and muscle coordination. By the end of this course, students will be equipped with muscle isolation techniques, basic and beyond basic moves, warm up exercises, and footwork patterns. They will be able to put together dance combinations and have a basic understanding of belly dance music.

Learn to decipher various forms of fine art printmaking and produce images in relief, intaglio, and monotype. We will look at and discuss example works from the four families of printmaking, then get our hands dirty creating small editions of our own works on paper using both hand printing techniques and an etching press. No experience necessary.

Our ceramics courses are designed for students from all levels- from the absolute beginner to experienced potters and sculptors. Classes are held in our beautiful, fully equipped studio. Eighteen potter's wheels, a slab roller, canvas covered work tables, ample storage space and the use of studio tools as well as clay, glaze, and firings are all included in the course fee. All that is missing is you!
Please do not bring in any outside clay or glazes as they may not be compatible with our ceramic studio materials. Classes may include students from multiple sessions.
