Members will tour the historic property known as Smithonia Farm. James Monroe Smith was a sharecropper in the 1880's and owned the largest plantation in GA. The current owners will show you their 1905 brick barn known as The Commissary and the property they have restored. The goal of 30 years has been to move away from this shameful part of our history and create a place that enhances the beauty of this area.

Experts agree that reading aloud to children plays a key role in their overall growth and development. Educators and caregivers who read aloud to children understand the importance of modeling thinking, providing opportunities to talk about books, and encouraging children to respond to reading with their own thoughts and opinions. This presentation will focus on how to make the most out of storytime by making it engaging and lively. It will address the topics of book choice, planning, interaction with children, and the role of technology in the read-aloud experience.

Mexico's film industry has long been one of the world's largest and most vibrant, giving the world glamorous stars, timeless popular songs, and enduring images of stark yet beautiful landscapes, social struggle, and triumph over adversity (though not without a few melodramatic plot twists along the way). This class gives an overview of Mexican cinema from its Golden Age of the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s to the experimental and often political Nuevo Cine Mexicano of the 1960s and 1970s through the industry's decline and resurgence in the twenty-first century with contemporary classics like Y tu mamá también.
