Successful companies cultivate global, entrepreneurial partnerships and networks that accelerate their growth, advance their leadership, and expand their markets. UVU Executive Education’s Senior Leadership Program @Cambridge: Driving Entrepreneurial Ecosystems is a unique, engaged learning experience designed to transform successful companies into outstanding market leaders.
Participants join an elite group of successful leaders from leading corporate, government, non-profit, and venture capital organizations. Over two weeks, you will discover and develop your leadership strengths, identify and map your target entrepreneurial markets, and create a personal strategic action plan to utilize resources and maximize opportunities to lead in a global economy.

The SLP program is designed for senior level leaders with strong experience in managing organizations, resources, and projects, such as corporate executives, government officials and policy makers, non-profit organization leaders, social change advocates, entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, venture capitalists, and others.

Program Schedule |
SLP is an immersive two-week experience. The program fee is $18,500 USD per participant, which covers all instruction, materials, meals, accommodations, and site entry fees. Airfare from Cambridge to Utah is also included, as is all local transportation to/from program sites and activities. Transportation and airfare costs to Cambridge and from Utah are the responsibility of the individual participant.

UVU Executive Education evaluates applications on the basis of experience, goals, and qualifications to ensure a final cohort of accomplished and diverse participants. Seating is limited, so prospective participants are encouraged to apply here as early as possible.

Week 1 :: Cambridge, England Sun, September 3- Sat, September 9, 2023 |
Known as “Silicon Fen”, the area surrounding Cambridge, England owes its economic success to a cross-pollination of ideas between academia, government, and more than 3,500 hi-tech businesses. Entrepreneurial collaboration and innovation has propelled this thriving ecosystem in to one of the most influential technology centers in Europe.
Within the hallowed halls of Cambridge University, participants learn from world-renowned faculty, researchers, and respected leaders of business and government. Inspired by the Silicon Fen culture, the program’s first week will focus on mapping ecosystems, developing local to global partnerships, strategic product development, and leading effectively in dynamic political and economic landscapes. Activities, presentations, and networking opportunities to include:
•Experience traditional Cambridge “punting”/guide driver tours on the River Cam
•Attend black-tie, high table dinners with select members of the House of Lords
•Tour industry leading venture companies at legendary Cambridge Science Park

Week 2 :: Park City, Utah, USA Sun, September 10 - Sat, September 16, 2023 |
At foot of the beautiful Wasatch mountains of Utah, ”Silicon Slopes” is home to one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Model partnerships and exemplary collaborations between industry, government, non-profits, and venture capital firms has fostered a vibrant tech community and a veritable hot bed of over 6,500 entrepreneurial ventures.
Hosted by Utah Valley University in world-famous Park City, the program’s second week will explore factors critical to success in rapidly changing markets. In the spirit of Silicon Slopes, learning to pics include ecosystem development, strategic innovation and disruption, diversity, equity, and inclusion(DEI), data analytics and financial structures, and execution excellence. Activities, presentations, and networking opportunities to include:
•Experience world-class leadership & team building activities (e.g., VR/Biometric Wing suit Jump)
•Attend exclusive presentations and panels featuring leaders of “Unicorn” companies
•Tour leading high-growth, start-up venture companies at prominent Utah VC accelerators and incubators
•Engage with experts in transforming 1:1 consultation and 360 leadership assessments

Astrid S. Tuminez PhD MA President | Utah Valley University
Dr. Astrid S. Tuminez serves as Co-Lead of the program and as Utah Valley University’s first female President. She previously served as Southeast Asia Regional Director of Corporate, External & Legal Affairs at Microsoft, Vice Dean of Research and Assistant Dean of Executive Education at National University of Singapore, Senior Research Consultant at US Institute of Peace, Director of Research, Alternative Investments at AIG Global, Program Officer at Carnegie Corporation of New York, and Fellow, Center for Science and International Affairs and Director, Moscow Office. President Tuminez earned her PhD in Political Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, her MA degree in Soviet Studies from Harvard, and her BA degree in International Relations & Russian Literature from Brigham Young University. |
Ryan Schill PhD MPhil Professor, Marketing & Entrepreneurship | Utah Valley University
Dr. Ryan Schill serves as Professor of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the Woodbury School of Business at Utah Valley University. He previously helped coordinate Harvard's MBA Entrepreneurship Boot Camp and led the creation of Harvard’s highly ranked Latin American Executive Education and MBA programs. He also served as the Morales Carazo endowed Professor of Entrepreneurship and as the Director of the Latin American Center for Entrepreneurs at INCAE Business School in Costa Rica & Nicaragua. He has built leading entrepreneurship centers around the world, including Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and the Pacific Islands. He also established the world’s largest scholarship for Latin American Women Entrepreneurs and was elected President of a Latin American University. Ranked among the “Top 40 Under 40” and recognized as one of the top professors of entrepreneurship in the world, he has taught at several prestigious universities, including Harvard Business School, Stanford University, Middlebury College, INCAE Business School, and the Yale School of Management, among others. He has also authored dozens of teaching cases for Harvard Business School, has authored two books on entrepreneurship in emerging economies, and is an expert on entrepreneurial ecosystems. Ryan earned his PhD degree in Business and Behavioral Economics, and his MPhil degree in Innovation, Strategy & Organization, from Cambridge University.

Don Capener PhD MBA Dean, Continuing Education | Utah Valley University
Dr. Don Capener serves as Dean of Continuing Education at Utah Valley University. He previously served as Associate Provost at UVU, and as Associate Dean and Graduate Director at the Woodbury School of Business. Prior to that he served as Dean of the Davis College of Business at Jacksonville University, as VP of Strategic Planning and Chief Marketing Officer at Monmouth College, Associate Professor of Management at Waseda University (Tokyo), SVP of Client Services at Euro RSCG 4D, and as Co-Founder and CMO at Above The Rim Apparel (Reebok). He also served as VP of Marketing at Netcentives, where he was instrumental in taking the company public via NASDAQ. Don earned his PhD degree in International Management and Entreprenuership from the International School of Management (Paris), his MBA degree in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, and his BS degree in Political Science and Economics from Brigham Young University. He is first and foremost an entrepreneur and his research interests center around entrepreneurial ecosystems and international economics.
